Antioxidant may support metabolic health in diabetics

People who buy Actos to control their diabetes may also benefit from eating a diet that is rich in the antioxidant resveratrol. New research suggests that the nutrient may provide powerful support for metabolic health. For the study, researchers from the University of Alberta examined low-birth weight baby rats. In both humans and animals, when a newborn’s growth is restricted in the womb, they go through a period of “catch-up” in which they grow rapidly. This puts them at risk for developing type 2 diabetes later in life. However, the researchers found that low-birth weight mice that were fed a diet rich in resveratrol were significantly less likely to develop the condition. They had much stronger metabolic health than those that were not given the nutrient. Specifically, the mice given resveratrol had better insulin sensitivity, less abdominal fat and better heart health, which are three issues that affect individuals with type 2 diabetes. Nutrients like resveratrol could never be a substitute for a prescription to buy Actos, but the findings show that diabetics may be able to support their health through better nutrition. |
