Pharmacists produce important savings when they are involved in patient care

Pharmacy technicians, including those who work at Canadian internet pharmacies, are highly trained professionals who are able to make important recommendations to individuals to augment their care. When these professionals are allowed to be involved in a patient’s care, it can often produce better results. For example, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield recently conducted a study in which pharmacists consulted with doctors about treatment options for patients on employer-sponsored health plans, according to the Dayton Daily News. Results of the study showed that employer health costs decreased by between $400 and $500 per worker. The group’s medical officer told the news source that it is important to engage patients outside of the doctor’s office. An individual can receive important health advice from their physician, but it is often forgotten when the person leaves the office. Getting pharmacists more involved in a person’s care can provide this opportunity for engagement, which may help people stick to prescribed treatments. A recent study published in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association showed similar cost savings when pharmacists played bigger roles in patient care. |
