Saw palmetto may be useful complementary treatment for enlarged prostate

Taking saw palmetto supplements along with a prescription to buy Flomax may help men with enlarged prostates significantly improve their sexual health. A new study has shown that the natural product can lead to a number of benefits.

An enlarged prostate is very common among men, particularly older ones. It can cause a range of sexual and urinary symptoms. Surgery can correct the problem, but this approach often damages some of the nerves that are central to maintaining sexual function.

In the study, researchers administered saw palmetto supplements to 82 men who had been diagnosed with enlarged prostates. The results showed that most made significant improvements.

At the beginning of the study, 18.8 percent had severe urinary and sexual symptoms, but this number dropped to 4.3 percent following treatment. Additionally, 66 percent reported improved sexual function after taking the supplements.

Previous studies of the effects of saw palmetto supplements on enlarged prostate symptoms have delivered mixed results, so men may still want to talk to their doctor about a prescription to buy Flomax. However, the new findings suggest there may be some benefit to supplementation.
