ACTOplus Met Side effects
Patients who experience serious side effects while taking ACTOplus Met should seek medical advice as soon as possible. Patients may also experience less serious side effects, such as sneezing or other signs of a cold, a headache and diarrhea.
Patients should ensure that they do not take ACTOplus Met for longer than advised by their doctor, as prolonged use could increase the risk of bladder cancer. For this reason it is not normally prescribed for more than 12 months. In rare cases, patients who use the drug may develop lactic acidosis, a build-up of lactic acid in the body, which could be fatal.
The symptoms of lactic acidosis include muscle pain or weakness, difficulty breathing, numb or coldness in the limbs, stomach pain, uneven or slow heart rate, weakness, tiredness, vomiting and dizziness. Women who do not usually have periods may find that their periods start again while taking ACTOplus Met. Women are also more likely to suffer from bone fractures of the foot, upper arm or hand while taking the medication.
ACTOplus Met Precautions
ACTOplus Met is not suitable for those who have allergies to any of the ingredients or patients who suffer from heart disease, liver d isease or eye problems caused by diabetes. In addition, it is not suitable for those over the age of 80 or for anyone with a history of bladder cancer. Patients who drink alcohol while taking ACTOplus Met may be more likely to develop lactic acidosis. Therefore anyone taking the medication should avoid consuming alcohol. ACTOplus Met may interract with other medications, such as bosentan, vancomycin and rifampin. Patients should disclose details of any other medications they are taking before being prescribed ACTOplus Met.
ACTOplus Met Additional Informaiton
As with most other medications, ACTOplus Met should be stored at room temperature, away from sources of heat, light and moisture. For this reason it should not be stored in a bathroom cabinet.
