Non-Steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medications can be taken for treatment of milder pain. NSAID drugs can also help lower the chances of colorectal cancer. The most common type of opioid drug for cancer pain is morphine, though Fentanyl, Oxycodone, Methadone and Hydromorphone are examples of other Opioids. If you are using opioid products for a long period of time, you may become tolerant and find that an increased dosage is necessary to maintain the effectiveness of treatment. It is normal to be prescribed other prescription products along with your cancer pain medication, such as Corticosteroids, Stimulants, Antidepressants or Bisphosphonates.
